"It is very impressive to hear a truly professional musician play. Mood Du Jour is a great album on which Scarborough plays just about every instrument. Doug has a knack for writing very beautiful songs, but he can also rock. Another plus is that off all the local albums I've heard, Doug's voice is the best. At times the album is groovy and others folky, making the music stimulating and unlike any other record. The quality of this album is phenomenal and very professional." The Scene Magazine, April 2000 The songs ive written on this CD are snapshots of events that ive lived through and learned from. Each one tells a story, naturally and honestly. I am simply what i am and pretend to be nothing more, but it is my wish for my music to be one of the colors in lifes kaleidoscope. You may like it, or you may turn the wheel, but in either case your overall view is richer." Doug Scarborough on Mood du Jour
Raised in the Mississippi Delta, singer/songwriter Doug Scarborough draws upon his musical heritage and experience in both composition and performance. While some classify his music as jazzy folk, in actuality it reflects layered influences from across the musical spectrum. Scarboroughs varied talents are exemplified in his solo work, where he plays acoustic guitar, bass, keyboards and trombone in addition to vocals. Scarboroughs extensive performing experience includes membership in Shawn Lanes Power of Ten band from 1992 to 1993. He currently lives in Colorado, where he performs regularly with the rock quartet mindGOflip. Mood Du Jour, Scarboroughs second album, once again showcases his singing and songwriting talents and features guitar virtuoso Shawn Lane and percussionists Jamie Janover and Christian Teele. Three tracks from the new album were performed by mindGOflip. Mood Du Jour is being distributed by Hapi Skratch records, your Rocky Mountain Music Hub.

"All musicians play music, but it's rarer the player who's so at home in his craft that he can let the music play him. Jamie Janover is that most precious sort of musician, who seems to create from the very source of music itself. His liquid, haunting, deceptively effortless lines ring with uncanny familiarity, because there are so many traditions flowing through Jamie's dancing hands : Celtic Highland folk forms, modal jazz reflection and odd-time mountain echoes, all in the flux of improvisation." Jamie Janover's critically-acclaimed performances on hammered dulcimer have won widespread admiration and respect. Considered to be one of the foremost experts on the instrument, Janover performs regularly at major jazz festivals and presents his craft in schools for students of all ages. In addition to dulcimer, Janover performs on tabla, didjeridu, udu, tamboura, and other percussion. His latest CD, Realms, features guest musicians from all over the world and diverse styles including Jazz, Classical, Bluegrass, Indian, African and others.
