Objectives

• Students will become familiar with the rhythmic characteristics of primitivism and expressionism.
• Students will become familiar with the characteristics and techniques of metal music.

• Discussion and definition of primitivistic rhythms and metal
• Analysis and identification of techniques in different styles of music
• Composition and improvisation of music which uses characteristics of primitivism, expressionism or metal

• Identification and analysis of primal, expressionist techniques in written and recorded music
